After Cain kills his brother Abel, God declares that anyone who harms Cain will be “avenged sevenfold”. The band’s current lineup consists of vocalist\u00a0M. He was the drummer, pianist, backing vocalist, and occasional co-lead vocalist of the\u00a0heavy metal\u00a0band\u00a0Avenged Sevenfold<\/a>, which he co-founded in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On December 28, 2009, Sullivan was found unresponsive at his home in\u00a0Huntington Beach, California.\u00a0Upon arrival to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at the age of 28.\u00a0Police stated that his death was not suspicious and appeared to be from natural causes. An autopsy performed on December 30 was inconclusive, but toxicology results released six months later revealed the cause of death to be an overdose of alcohol,\u00a0diazepam,\u00a0oxycodone,\u00a0oxymorphone, and\u00a0nordiazepam.\u00a0The coroner noted an\u00a0enlarged heart<\/a>\u00a0as a “significant condition” that may have played a role in his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On January 6, 2010, a private funeral was held for Sullivan. Avenged Sevenfold dedicated their fifth studio album\u00a0Nightmare<\/a><\/em>\u00a0to him, as well as songs including “So Far Away<\/a>“, which had been written by his bandmate and childhood friend\u00a0Synyster Gates<\/a>, and “Fiction”, which Sullivan had written three days before his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
